A Cheshire software developer has created a new app, so that Padel players and clubs can have their own scoreboards.
Robin Hayward has previously worked with the likes of Next, Accenture, Sky and Mastercard. But as a Padel player, he believes he’s spotted a gap in the market, which is why he developed Vamos Courtside.
“From my own playing experience, I realised that due to the cost of installing and maintaining scoreboards at courts, nobody offers this facility,” he explained.
“Matters are complicated further by the fact various systems that are on offer all work differently, so no club can justify their installation as the return on investment is negligible and the setup for players simply isn’t worth it.
“As an app developer, I realised I could create something that would allow individual phones to act as a scoreboard. Most phones lie idle which is usually next to the court when players are occupied with the game anyway, so it seemed a perfect solution.”

He’s created the app, so that it can be integrated with the Apple Watch and there’s also an option of small, bluetooth Flic Buttons, popped in your pocket, attached to your shirt or racket.
“You can update the score remotely from anywhere on court, for everyone to see. It can easily live stream to multiple devices too, for a scoreboard on either side of the net, or people nearby so they too can follow the game,” he continued.
“Every time I’ve either played and watched, it’s noticeable that people forget the score, or where they are in the match progression, at some point or another. Nobody spectating knows what the score is and for competitive matches, people take scoring very seriously.
“Vamos solves this by communicating scores to everyone, removing the ambiguity.”
