Carlsberg celebrates “Miracle of 2005” with Istanbul Champions League inspired can

Carlsberg has launched a limited edition “Miracle of 2005” can for Liverpool FC in celebration of the 20th anniversary of their famous Champions League win.

The long-time sponsor of the club has produced a marketing campaign around the release, featuring Jerzy Dudek, Sami Hyypiä and Vladimír Šmicer, who all played in Istanbul.

The film sees the “Miracle Can” rolling down the production line as Hyypiä opens with an operatic version of Allez Allez Allez, it then cuts to Šmicer giving the can a kiss of luck “like it’s 2005 all over again.”

The can shoots off the conveyor belt to nestle in the gloves of Jerzy Dudek, the same gloves he wore 20-years ago on that night.

“At Carlsberg, we’ve stood side by side with Liverpool Football Club since 1992, sharing countless memorable moments together during an over 30-year partnership,” said Lynsey Woods, Global Brand Director at Carlsberg.

“The Miracle of 2005 stands out as an iconic chapter in that shared history. It’s an occasion that resonates deeply with supporters across the globe and it’s why we wanted to commemorate this remarkable anniversary and create something in celebration of the passion and dedication of Liverpool FC fans everywhere.

“Blessed by Liverpool FC legends that were there on the night, we want our Miracle Can to bring hope for the future to fans across the globe and, hopefully, a few more miracles. Can they strike again? Probably.”

Often referred to as one of the best finals of all time, Liverpool were 3-nil down at halftime, before a comeback, extra time and a penalty shootout saw them lift the trophy.

The can has been designed with Liverpool FC red and Carlsberg green and features time stamps linking back to notable moments during the match.
