Inspired Spaces North 2019: Inside the shortlisted entries (part 2)

fishtankagencyofficeinterior2

Here is part two of our series profiling the shortlisted places for this year’s Inspired Spaces North competition.

Inspired Spaces North is held in association with Active Profile, with Sheila Bird Group as headline sponsor. Special thanks must also go to partners Avison Young and Zut Media.

20 offices or workspaces were shortlisted after a lengthy judging session in August. Last week, we looked at the first four shortlisted workspaces, which you can see here.

A public vote will take place in October with the top 10 and the overall winner announced at a wrap party later in the year, held at 86 Princess Street.

Inspired Space 5: Fishtank Agency, Mirfield

The fishtank team said: “The space offers the perfect juxtaposition of a building steeped in history, set amongst the most spectacular rural landscape and home to a modern, dynamic and creative working environment designed with collaboration, wellbeing and productivity at its core.

“Nature is truly at the heart of the space. With views for days, a herd of cows as neighbours and breathtaking beauty 365 days a year – who wouldn’t be inspired?!”

Inspired Space 6: Hollis, Manchester

They said: “We wanted to create a space that reflected our brand, our values and enhanced wellbeing; and have achieved that. We addressed wellbeing through providing a range of working, collaboration and social spaces, supporting flexible working, improving air quality and providing sit/stand desking and biophilia.

“We’re also committed to promoting sustainability in our sector and worked hard to achieve BREEAM excellent rating for the fit-out which demonstrated that sustainable workplace practices can be achieved within older properties and not just new-builds. Also, the associated cost savings such as rent, service charge and dilapidations liabilities over our new lease term are significant.”

Inspired Space 7: Journey Further, Leeds

They said: “Every detail, big and small was designed with ‘Clarity at Speed’ and our four values in mind – from the expansive downstairs, engineered for learning and collaboration, to the productive hideaways and social spaces.

“Drilling can now be heard next door…as work begins on doubling the size of 4 The Dockside by early 2020 – proof of how great design can fuel rapid growth through creating an inspiring place to work.”

Inspired Space 8: Key Travel, Manchester

They said: “The space has been designed with our industry in mind. As a Travel Management company, we wanted to reflect all four corners of the world. As such, we have the continents represented in each block, not just by name but in the way it has been designed and decorated too. Art work and ornaments that were sourced from charity shops give each area a unique feel. Artwork made by our chosen charity, Village by Village and the TukTuk really make a statement.”

We’ll be back with part three next week, looking at a further four more shortlisted entries for ISN 2019…
