The University of Manchester has teamed up with DisabledGo to launch a new app that aims to “revolutionise” access information for staff, students and visitors.
The AccessAble Uni of Manchester App is the first bespoke access app for universities, delivering user friendly guides for disabled students to find detailed access information at the university campus.

The guides include all the facilities on campus, including halls of residence, cafes, lecture halls, toilets and bars from a pan disability perspective. Every venue is visited and assessed in person by a trained DisabledGo surveyor.
The free app’s features include MyWayToGo, which integrates mobile access information and maps, enabling users to locate and get directions directly to their chosen accessible place on campus.
Patrick Johnson, the university’s head of diversity and equality, said: “We are very pleased to launch this new app and believe it is a fantastic resource that will make our campus more accessible for all members of our community.
“In addition to the access guides and an emergency locator you can personalise your settings to meet your needs. I believe this will be a useful tool and I know I will be using the MyWayToGo function.”
