Creative content agency Ride Shotgun has teamed up with Buxton Brewery and The World Bee Project to launch Plan Bee, a honey-infused pale ale celebrating World Bee Day tomorrow (Tuesday May 20th).
The studio developed a bold design and illustrative stamp motif that brings both the can and webpage to life.
Louise Greensmith, head of design at Ride Shotgun, said: “When we created the concept for the ‘Plan Bee’ collaboration ale between Buxton Brewery and The World Bee Project, we knew we needed a bold contemporary design for the can to complement the activist style beer name. We made the ‘Bee’ in the headline slightly transparent, representing the need for urgency in preventing extinction of some Bee species and a physical bumble bee to bring the message to life.
“We’ve created a stamp graphic from The World Bee Project logo, which acts as a seal of approval, with supporting copy hovering around the headline, representing the movement of bees.”
Ride Shotgun extended the concept online with a dedicated webpage created by Sophie Blackwell, Mid-weight creative at Rise Shotgun.
Buxton Brewery managing director Dom Metcalfe added: “The new creative design Ride Shotgun created for ‘Plan Bee’ perfectly captures the essence of the new pale ale both on the can and through their webpage creation. With honeybees interacting with the copy within the page, silhouette bees also connect with the scene alongside the subtle honeycomb gradient design, representing the need for us to act now in helping find a long-term solution that benefits bees and people.”
The World Bee Project CIC is a Community Interest Company, the first independent initiative in the world that uses AI and advanced technologies to monitor pollinator and biodiversity declines from a global perspective to seek dynamic long-term solutions that benefit both nature and people.
The World Bee Project also pioneers its environmental social impact programmes to enable women farmers to restore declining bee populations while building sustainable livelihood options.
Plan Bee launches today via Buxton Brewery’s website and taproom. Each can is priced at £4, with a portion of proceeds donated to The World Bee Project.
