Viddyoze hits 100k customers as business booms during lockdown

James Garside

Preston animation firm Viddyoze is celebrating reaching 100,000 customers – and predicts it will hit 200,000 by the end of this year.

The firm’s technology allows people to create and use their own video animation in three clicks and Viddyoze achieved turnover of £1.8m in May alone.

Co-founder Jamie Garside said lockdown had boosted the company’s customer base, with up to 20,000 new clients coming on board per month as companies turned to video-making.

Garside, who founded Viddyoze in 2015 with David Chamberlain and Joey Xoto, said: “It took us around four-and-a-half years to hover around the 100,000 mark but having reached that milestone we think we’ll hit 200,000 active users within six to eight months in spite of the global impact of Covid-19.

“One trend we’ve noticed is that a lot of SMEs have joined the platform along with larger enterprise customers. They include personal trainers, nutritionists and kitchen companies. It’s across the board.

“Another thing we’ve identified is that companies that previously hired someone to make a video on their behalf are choosing to do it themselves and allocate that marketing budget elsewhere.

“We democratise content creation so our technology has helped create a generation of video-makers.”

About 85% of Viddyoze’s customer base comes from the US, with 5% coming from the UK and the other 10% spread globally.

The company employs 13 people at its base in Preston and another 18 around the world. Clients include Tesla, Sony and PwC.

Garside added: “We’ve implemented a new marketing strategy and, despite the impact of Covid-19, our efforts are paying off. We’re on track to triple turnover this year with £25m being our target.”
