Versa Studios is to run more than a dozen studios in Manchester, including a new “studio in the sky” in the city centre.

This latest investment in studio space by Mike Ingall’s Versa Studios will make it one of the major players in the UK.

The Allied London CEO’s company already operates a 20,000sq ft space in West London and the new 330,000sq ft studios in Leeds.

In Manchester, Versa ABC is a 5,000sq ft space and will be the new home of BBC One Daytime’s Morning Live.

Based at Enterprise City’s ABC Building, the studio includes production galleries, dressing rooms, a production office and green rooms.

Versa will also take over the Manchester Studios complex, also at Enterprise City – the Allied London, built around the former Granada Television building.

It stated that the studios will be ready for operation “almost immediately” and that it planned to “substantially renew and launch” 5 more studios in 2023, providing an additional 55,000sq ft of television studio space, plus 3 more specialist areas, including a music studio.

The firm will work with Department, the tech and media facilities provider that operates Bonded warehouse and ABC buildings.

“In Manchester City centre, by Summer 2023, Versa will be operating three fully equipped TV broadcast studios and a further 10 that will cater for a diverse range of production types including non-scripted broadcast TV, scripted film & drama, music, commercials, content creation and gaming,” said Charlie Ingall, Executive Director of VERSA.

“Our spaces will be ideal for a variety of uses including performance and events. We fully intend to create a creative media cluster in Manchester rather than simply a set of TV studios.”
