Integrated creative agency Absolute is celebrating the launch of The University of Manchester’s new website – www.manchester.ac.uk.

Following a competitive pitch, the Bolton-based agency Absolute collaborated with the University’s in-house digital development team and Manchester agency, Reading Room, to design a responsive site.

Working across all devices from desktop, to mobile and tablet, the brief was to not only design a responsive layout but to make sure that the navigation and user journey worked just as well across all platforms.

Absolute’s managing director Chris Hodgen said the project had taken about three months to design and a further six months to build with its four strong internal team.

“We were very proud to win the pitch for such a high-profile, market leading university. It was a very technical brief with the site having such a great deal of nested content, but we worked hard to optimise the user journey of the site. The end result is a clean, easy-to-navigate and well-designed site.”

To help with the build of the website, Absolute created a detailed digital brand kit that will also be used by each school within the University to develop their own websites.

The University of Manchester’s content manager, Andrew Simmons said “The team were a pleasure to work with and delivered over and above what we had expected of them. The site looks stunning on all devices and we’ve already received lots of positive feedback”
