Skiddle to take over Blackpool Tower Ballroom to celebrate a quarter century of gigs, clubs and more

Skiddle, one of the UK’s most established independent ticketing platforms, is set to take over the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom next year to celebrate a quarter-century of supporting live music, festivals, club nights, and cultural events across the country.

To honour its 25th anniversary milestone, Skiddle will host a special anniversary event on Thursday 30th April 2026, bringing together friends, partners, clients, and collaborators from across the industry.

Skiddle was founded in 2001 by Richard Dyer and Ben Sebborn, and began life as a grassroots nightlife guide born out of a shared passion for music and digital innovation. What started as a side project between two friends looking to better connect clubbers with events in the North West quickly gained traction.

Over the last 25 years, it has evolved into a leading force in event promotion and ticket sales, helping to shape and support the UK’s vibrant events sector. It is now the UK’s leading independent event ticketing platform, dedicated to helping event organisers create and manage sell-out events. Listing events on Skiddle is completely free, and the platform attracts millions of monthly users, supporting a wide range of event types and genres with a wealth of tools and features.

The 25th anniversary event promises a night of reflection and celebration, featuring:

  • A curated awards presentation recognising partners and industry figures
  • Dinner and drinks with a creative twist
  • A dancefloor powered by decades of music and memories
  • Skiddle’s signature dose of organised chaos

“This is more than just a birthday, it’s a celebration of everyone who’s been part of the Skiddle journey,” said co-founder Richard Dyer. “From promoters and partners to staff and supporters, this milestone belongs to you as much as it does to us.”

The event will take place at the historic Blackpool Tower Ballroom, the spiritual home of global ballroom dancing, host to the ever-popular Strictly Come Dancing, and the tallest man-made structure in the British Empire on construction in 1894.

More details and ticket information will be released later this year.
