InnovateHer has announced the latest step in its mission to build a fairer, more inclusive tech future – the launch of a groundbreaking AI education programme for girls aged 13–17.
The announcement follows a series of national AI roundtables held this week, hosted in partnership with some of the UK’s most influential organisations, including Sony, The Guardian, Channel 4, KAO Data, Manchester Metropolitan University, Vanguard and Ofcom to name a few.
The discussions highlighted a collective urgency: to ensure the next generation is both equipped and empowered to shape the development of artificial intelligence, and that this future is led by diverse voices.

Launching as a pilot in September 2025 and rolling out nationally in January 2026, the InnovateHer AI Programme will introduce girls to the opportunities and ethical challenges of AI. Designed to be interactive, thought-provoking and creatively driven, the curriculum will help young people explore how AI works, where it’s used, and how to build it responsibly. It will also focus on nurturing well-being and self-awareness, helping students understand how to protect their identity online and navigate the digital world with confidence and care.
Chelsea Slater, co-founder and CEO of InnovateHer, said: “AI is already changing the way we live and work, but right now, it’s being built by a very small and non-diverse group of people. That’s not only unfair – it’s dangerous. We’re launching this programme to give girls the knowledge, confidence and power to shape the future of AI for good.”
With modules covering bias in data, ethical design, and real-world applications of AI, the programme will open up conversations around innovation, values and impact while nurturing technical and creative skills.
The programme’s development has been shaped by insights from the recent AI roundtables, which brought together leaders across tech, media, education and the public sector.
“We were proud to host the InnovateHer AI Roundtable at Channel 4 because we believe in the power of inclusive innovation,” said Grace Boswood, technology & distribution director, Channel 4. “If we want the future of AI to reflect the diversity of our audiences and society as a whole, we need to invest in programmes like this that open doors for young people – especially girls – to explore and shape the tech that will define their futures.”
