Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is: Oasis reunion could bring quarter billion+ to Manchester economy

We don’t know if you’ve heard, but Oasis are coming home – and they could be bringing a £277 million spending boom with them, according to new research.

The analysis from Novuna Personal Finance shows that the band’s five-night residency at Heaton Park this summer will be one of the biggest cultural and economic events Manchester has seen in years.

The iconic reunion shows are expected to attract around 400,000 fans, making Manchester the second biggest stop on the Oasis Live ’25 tour. The city will account for nearly one-third of all attendees across the 17-date UK run.

Each concert in Manchester is forecast to generate £55.4 million in fan spending, with a net local economic impact of £95.7 million – benefiting everything from local pubs and restaurants to hotels, shops and transport services.

According to Novuna’s report, fan spending will be spread across several key areas, with much of it flowing into the Manchester economy, including:

  • £63.8m on food and drink
  • £63.2m on tickets
  • £54m on shopping and leisure across the city
  • £50m on travel including journeys to and within the host city
  • £28.6m on merchandise
  • £17.4m on accommodation

Theresa Lindsay, chief marketing officer at Novuna Personal Finance, said: “Oasis are one of Manchester’s most iconic exports so it’s no surprise that fans here are leading the charge with spending on one of the most highly anticipated reunions in years. With almost £100 million in net local benefit expected from just five nights, this is proof that live music powers our cities far beyond the arena gates. It’s a major economic event.”

“From pre-show drinks to overnight stays, this tour will bring life to every corner of the city – and showcase Manchester’s global pull as a music capital.”

The research, commissioned by Novuna Personal Finance and conducted by the Centre for Economics and Business Research (Cebr), surveyed 400 Oasis concert attendees in April–May 2025. Respondents were grouped by concert city, visit type, and proximity to the venue to reflect different spending behaviours.

The data was used to model total and net economic impacts. Average spend was calculated as a weighted mean across three attendee types:

  • Local residents (within 10 miles, not staying overnight)
  • Domestic day visitors (from further afield, no overnight stay)
  • Domestic overnight visitors (staying locally in hotels, Airbnbs or with friends/family)
