The new look North Durham Advertiser has been launched this morning on a part-free, part-paid basis.

The Newsquest publication will be available in 3 regional formats, for Durham, Chester le Street and Consett & Stanley readers.

“I was born and raised in north Durham so I know that people in this area regard it as their weekly source of community news and advertising. I’m delighted they can now enjoy a bigger and better product than ever before,” explained editor Andy Richardson.

“Through our Community Focus platform we’re encouraging readers to send us their stories and pictures for publication. This is very much a newspaper written by local people for local people and I’ve been delighted by the reaction so far.”

The 56-page Advertiser features an 8-page property pull-out, community news, local history, reader’s photographs, sport and a what’s on guide.

In the initial phase, 25k copies will be home-delivered, with 5k made available for sales in news agents. A number of free copies will be made available at “strategic” pick up points around the region.
