TV and film producer Colin McKeown, who helped set up Channel 4’s Brookside, was awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours List.
McKeown, who has since founded LA Productions, was recognised for services to drama production and the community in Liverpool.
Having started his career as a production trainee at Granada Studios, McKeown teamed up with producer and screenwriter Phil Redmond to set up Brookside, which ran from 1982 until 2003.
He also created and produced police drama series Liverpool 1, which starred Samantha Janus and Mark Womack, and his other work includes Liverpool-based Moving On, now in its eighth series.
He also produced one-off feature film Common, written by Jimmy McGovern, which was nominated for an Emmy, as well as Reg Keys drama Reg.
LA Productions has also just been commissioned to create a primetime six-part series for BBC One called Broken.
