As Pride Month kicks off, Manchester’s iconic Printworks has once again come alive with a bold, new animated film celebrating LGBTQ+ identity, love, and resilience; streaming across Europe’s largest indoor digital ceiling.
Crafted by Flipbook Studio, the animation features vibrant ribbons of colour forming the Progress Pride flag, alongside animated portraits of LGBTQ+ advocates, including Phyll Opoku-Gyimah, Lill from RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and Luke-Matthew Iveson, winner of Great British Sewing Bee, each spotlighted in striking visual style.
The launch event was a celebration in itself, shining a light on LGBTQ+ community heroes and stories. Lill and Luke officially unveiled the display on the digital ceiling, broadcasting their signature flair and unapologetic confidence across the vast space.
This latest installation builds on Flipbook’s successful collaboration with Revolt, Ocean Outdoor and Frazzled the mental health charity founded by Ruby Wax, for The Feeling Ceiling last month.

During Mental Health Awareness Week, the campaign let visitors select their mood via iPad, which then generated animated CGI “emotional weather” on the screens above, from sunny moods to stormy anxiety across the Printworks ceiling. Ruby Wax was there in person to demonstrate the screen to the public.
“The ceiling at Printworks has given us an incredible canvas over the past few years, a space where we can tell meaningful, visually impactful stories. From mental health awareness to LGBTQ+ pride, it’s become a platform for celebrating identity, sparking conversation, and connecting with people in a truly unique way,” said Flipbook Producer Patricia Gronau.
Running throughout June, the new Pride animation transforms Printworks into a dynamic tributeto community, creativity, and the ongoing global fight for LGBTQ+ rights, in partnership with Kaleidoscope Trust.
