Peter Kay’s Car Share was the big winner when the Royal Television Society (RTS) North West Centre announced its annual awards in Manchester on Saturday.
More than 450 industry professionals and guests attended the event at the Hilton Deansgate, hosted by actor and presenter Ted Robbins.
The RTS North West Awards recognise the wealth of creative talent in the region and honour the work of production teams, writers, presenters and actors across genres including comedy, drama, factual, current affairs and kids.
Peter Kay’s Car Share (Goodnight Vienna Productions for BBC One) bagged four awards including Best Comedy Programme; Best Script Writer for Peter Kay, Sian Gibson, Paul Coleman and Tim Reid; Best Performance in a Comedy for Peter Kay; and Best Post Production (Craft) for Core Post.

Other winners on the night included ITV News Granada Reports’ Elaine Willcox for Best Regional News Journalist; Title Role Productions / ITV News Granada Reports for Best Regional Story and Executed (Shiver for ITV) for Best Single Documentary. The Judges’ Award 2015 was presented to director of BBC Studios, Peter Salmon.
Alex Connock, Chair of the RTS North West Centre and MD of Shine North, said: “The BBC’s move to MediaCity pushed a wave of creativity in TV across the North West. That’s clear to see in the huge range and impact of the programmes – and people – winning RTS Awards tonight.”
