Packaging trade press veteran joins PHD Marketing

PHD Marketing (PHD) has appointed David Pittman, former editor of Digital Labels & Packaging, as its newest account manager.

A highly established name in global trade media, David has worked as journalist and editor covering developments in print and packaging for 13 years. Now seeking a new challenge, he joins PHD at a time of growth and international expansion.

Pittman said: “In my time as a journalist and editor, I’ve become very familiar with the PHD team and the quality of strategic content it supplies for its clients. Now that the time is right for me to see the media-agency relationship from the other side, PHD is the natural choice.

“After 13 years covering all aspects of the packaging industry, I have a deep understanding of what today’s businesses are up against, how technologies and innovations fit into the puzzle, and where the biggest challenges lie. I’ll be using that knowledge to facilitate further growth and ensure PHD’s fantastic roster of clients continue to get the highest level of service and marketing support.”

Pittman’s appointment as account manager will see him guide, shape and execute marketing initiatives for PHD clients, alongside technical copywriting and content strategy.

Joanna Stephenson, managing director at PHD Marketing, added: “We’re a business that picks our team very carefully, because to be a ‘PHD’er’ is as much about a can-do attitude and proactivity as it is skill and knowledge. David fits that to a tee and is a well-proven entity in the printing sector. He knows the industry, and he knows how to craft a compelling strategic story for our clients, so we’re delighted that when he wanted to apply his skills to a B2B communications agency in the packaging industry, we were first choice.

“We’re in a very exciting period of growth, currently working with forty clients around the globe and with some of the biggest names in their respective fields. Our team is helping printing and packaging businesses cut through endless market static by providing thoughtful, measured and strategic marketing support. We cannot wait to see how [David] translates an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of the printing and packaging industry into thoughtful, impactful value-adding campaigns.”
