Every November, the great Christmas ad extravaganza begins as retailers swamp our screens with their attempts to tug at our heartstrings.
But now, with just a week to go, a Hull creative agency has launched what it claims to be the final Christmas advert of 2023, holding off until everyone’s truly in the festive spirit.
Pace Communications’ ad features a mouse and a feel-good message around the importance of imagination and its role in the creative process.
The two-minute film sees the central character – Chris Mouse – saving up for a rocket to take him to the moon. On his quest for cash, he notices a poor, shivering cat sat outside in the snow. So, rather than spend money on a gift for himself, Chris Mouse is compelled to buy his unlikely friend a coat with his ‘hard-earned’ money.
However, all is not lost as he still manages to fly to the moon – with a little help from some powerful imagination and a cardboard rocket.
Anita Pace, MD of Pace, said: “It feels like Christmas is getting earlier and earlier every year meaning people have had their fill of Christmas before December comes around. With the big names revealing their feel-good festive efforts over a month ago, the sparkle has started to fade.
“We think it’s worth considering a different approach – celebrating the festive season in December, as it should be. This approach also lends itself to maximising opportunities for those last-minute shoppers who are still considering their gifts.”
In the finest festive tradition, a range of Chris Mouse merchandise is available on the Pace website.
