BBC Yorkshire and Lincolnshire has a new boss – but only for a couple of months.
Tim Smith, who has been the editor of Look North since 2007, is stepping into the lead role until the end of this year.
He stands in for head of BBC Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, Helen Thomas who will return to the post after completing a project with James Harding, the director of BBC News and Current Affairs.
The post is based in Leeds and involves responsibility for all of the regional and local output, including BBC Radio Leeds, BBC Radio York, Look North, Inside Out, The Politics Show and the local websites.
He tweets @TimSmithYorks and started the new job with a trip to the Lincolnshire division to meet listeners and viewers there.

Although details of the project Harding and Thomas are working on together have not been released, the Leeds centre recently launched a pilot to see how the BBC online can make more of local newspapers’ stories and digital content of local newspapers to their online audience, incluidng with ‘citizen journalism teams’.
