A new Carry On film is being written by Runcorn’s Susan Nickson, the woman behind Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.
Carry On Doctors will be the 32nd movie in the series and is set for a 2017 release, with filming starting in October.
The last Carry On film, Carry on Columbus, hit screens in 1992.
None of the original surviving stars, who include Barbara Windsor and Jim Dale, will return.
There are further plans for a 33rd film, Carry On Campus, set for release in 2018.
Nickson, who recently contributed to ITV’s Birds Of A Feather revival, said she was “thrilled” to be involved.
“I grew up watching these films and to be working on this project feels like coming home,” she said.
