New boss for Trinity Mirror in the North East

Trinity Mirror has appointed a new managing director for the North East division.

Russell Borthwick will take full responsibility for the publishing businesses in Newcastle and Teesside in a shake-up at the news orgnaisation which also sees a new MD appointed for Media Scotland.
 
Borthwick, who takes up his role in March, is a well-regarded business leader in the North East having set up and run Press Ahead, an award-winning agency with a roster of high-profile clients. 
 
TM CEO Mark Hollinshead, said: “Russell has a wealth of experience in publishing and through the success of his own business he has built up a extensive client base in the north-east and beyond. Russell is a great leader and a strong addition to the management team.”

 
Prior to Press Ahead, Borthwick held a variety of senior marketing, sales and commercial roles at TRN and Trinity Mirror including Consumer Marketing Director at Gazette Media Company, Group Head of Marketing Development and Regional Marketing and Business Development Director for the North East region.

Allan Rennie, who retains his current responsibilities as editor in chief, has also been promoted to the role of managing director of Media Scotland.

And at the end of February, current MD of Media Scotland and North East, Denise West, will be leaving the business after 17 years with the company.
 
Hollinshead said: “Denise has established an exemplary track record of performance and delivery in her varied career with the company but has now decided to leave to pursue fresh challenges. We wish her every success for the future.”
