Employee-owned marketing agency I-COM has also been celebrating Employee Ownership Day (EO Day) by creating a collage of smiles from employee-owned businesses across the country. Photo submissions of employee-wide smiles have been added to I-COM’s collage, in line with the theme for this year’s EO Day, #EOSmile.
The collage was launched on billboards across the city of Manchester over the weekend to mark EO Day on 20th June, showcasing the growth of the employee-ownership model where employees hold the majority stake in the business. According to the Employee Ownership Association, there were over 2,250 employee-owned businesses in the UK – up from just over 500 in 2020. The EOA report increased productivity, motivation and employee satisfaction in EO firms.
The collage campaign drew the attention of several companies across industries, from marketing, food and drink, built environment, to the legal sector. Participants included 20/20 Project Management Training, Accord ESL, Best of British Beer, Boardmans, Creed Communications Limited, Gripple, Loadhog Ltd, Myerson Solicitors, and Stephens Scown LLP.
Kate Smith, client services director, said: “We are proud to be employee-owned, so this was the perfect opportunity to show the people of Manchester that we are celebrating with our fellow employee-owned businesses. The response from this fantastic community has been great and it’s been really exciting to see the smiles coming in to create the digital collage.”
