Employee engagement consultancy, scarlettabbott, has appointed a cultural anthropologist to work out of its York office.

Dr Alex Gapud was previously a Teaching Fellow at the University of Edinburgh, where he gained his PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology. His background is in recruitment and training in the United States.

“The role of internal communications is vital for driving organisational change but there is certainly a need for more academic rigour in the industry,” he explained.

“Combining deep scientific understanding of what drives meaningful cultures and relationships with internal communications best practices can unlock the sustainable change that transforms employee engagement.”

At the agency, he will work across strategic communications for clients in the retail, financial and legal sectors.

“Increasingly, our clients are looking for innovative change solutions that also demonstrate real value to their leadership teams. Alex’s expertise absolutely supports our mission to underpin internal communications with robust science and measurable impact,” added Managing Director, Jeremy Petty.

“We are excited to have Alex on board. His knowledge is an incredible asset to the team and will prove a major advantage to our clients.”
