Manchester’s CUPRA City Garage to host celebration of magazine culture

On Wednesday 2nd July, curated in collaboration with CUPRA City Garage and Cutlass, Manchester in Print will bring together a panel of editors and creatives from across the UK’s independent print landscape, spanning fashion, music, architecture, food and culture.

They’ll be welcoming speakers to each take part in an interview, talking all things magazine with their contributors and magazine friends:

  • Eddy Rhead from local champions The Modernist, Manchester’s unique magazine and architecture and design store, in conversation with Sarah Hardacre, visual artist and cultural producer
  • Rob Orchard, founder and editor of the slow news magazine Delayed Gratification, in conversation with Rob Ellison and Benita Finanzio, founders of Tonic Magazine
  • Richard Kelly, acclaimed Manchester photographer and lecturer at the Manchester Fashion Institute, in conversation with textiles and sculpture artist, and manager of SeeSaw Space, Charlotte Holt, about the role of photography in elevating print and how the visual identity of a city is captured in its pages

Magazines are an integral part of our culture, perfectly placed to signal your tastes, your values and your creative world. From student zines to collectible editions, Manchester in Print will spotlight why print continues to thrive and how it remains a powerful cultural marker even in the digital age.

With an incredible selection of indie magazines also on sale from Ra & Olly, this event is a unique opportunity to hear from some of the most exciting names in the modern publishing world. A relaxed networking session will follow the talks in the inspiring surroundings of the CUPRA City Garage in St Anne’s Square.

Tickets are free, but the organisers request that attendees reserve in advance as space is limited.

There will also be kombucha from Hip Pop and nibbles by UNAGI available.
