Manchester media lawyers Irwin Mitchell have advised menopause expert, Dr Louise Newson, on her new book which will be available later this year.

Published by Yellow Kite, The Definitive Guide to the Perimenopause and Menopause will be available in hardback, ebook and audio on March 16, 2023.

Specialist lawyers at Irwin Mitchell advised Dr Louise Newson on her publicity agreement with Yellow Kite.

Laura Harper partner and media & entertainment sector lead at Irwin Mitchell, said: “As one of the UK’s leading medical experts on menopause, Dr Louise has transformed the lives of hundreds of thousands of women and their families through her work. We are proud to be involved with this project and look forward to the book being huge success as well as being hugely helpful for women who are affected by perimenopause and menopause.”

Newson added: “A lack of knowledge about the perimenopause and menopause and poor access to treatments has left women needlessly suffering for decades. Every day I receive so many messages from those who are struggling to cope and are desperate for answers. I have written this book to help women to feel informed, empowered and confident about getting the best menopause care, regardless of their age, background or health history.”

Yellow Kite is a leading non-fiction health, lifestyle and wellbeing publisher founded in 2014. It is part of Hodder & Stoughton, one of the most successful publishing houses in the UK.

Newson was working as a GP when she began to suspect that many patients with menopausal symptoms were being misdiagnosed or ignored. That led her to train as a menopause specialist and, in time, to become the UK’s most informed and passionate advocate for helping women find the help they need.

She established the Newson Health Menopause and Wellbeing Centre, which sees thousands of patients a month with over 200 healthcare professionals and staff. In order to reach more women, Louise set up the free balance menopause support app to provide clear, evidence-based information about the perimenopause and menopause.

In addition to advising Dr Louise on her book, Irwin Mitchell also provides IP, commercial and corporate advice. Its media team has recently advised on a deal which saw Rainmaker Content, the international distributor specialising in drama, factual and special-event programming, take a minority equity stake in Saffron Cherry Productions.
