Manchester Digital unveils newly elected council


Manchester Digital, the independent trade association for the North West’s digital sector, has announced the newly elected members of its council.

The three newly elected and three re-elected members are Tom Cull, managing director at iProspect, Martin Bryant, community editor at Tech North, Paul Bason, director of innovation at MMU, Ajay Kapedia, managing director of Fabric, Daniel Keighron Foster, managing director of Steamhaus, and Shaun Fensom, freelancer.

The newly elected candidates will work with those selected last year – Alison Ross, customer experience and operations director at Autotrader, Gemma Cameron, director at Hack Manchester, Richard Gregory, newly appointed director of Tech North, Simon Wharton, managing director at PushON, and Vikas Shah, managing director at Swiscot Group and Chris Marsh of UKFast.

The 12-strong council will now work closely with Manchester Digital’s core team to govern the work the organisation does, uncover the opportunities and tackle the issues facing the North’s booming digital sector.

Particular focus will be placed on promoting and fulfilling the organisation’s Five Areas of Focus – its newly released strategy which focuses on the five areas where the business believes its work can make most impact.

Graham Benson, chair of Manchester Digital and CIO of, said: “As my first year on the Manchester Digital council comes to a close, I’m thrilled to have a number of extremely strong candidates join the council to work alongside me moving forward.

“All of the newly elected candidates are committed to promoting, growing and supporting the region’s digital sector, and the diverse mix of backgrounds they come from means they’ll each bring something unique to the table.”

Manchester Digital’s managing director, Katie Gallagher, added: “I’m confident our newly elected members possess the right mix of skills and attributes to take Manchester Digital to the next level and play the important role of representing the sector and promoting its growth during the remainder of 2016 and into 2017.”
