Liquid has designed the new branding for Simon Rimmer’s new restaurant, which is based at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Liverpool.

Simon Rimmer – Layla Brasserie is part of the 4 star hotel in the city centre and it’s named after the daughter of Dr Marwan Koukash, the owner of Salford City Reds, who’s developing the hotel.

Liquid was brought in to create an engaging brand for the brasserie, to promote Rimmer’s “modern food ethos.”

The imagery uses diamonds and peonies as a focal point, which the agency explained, was to create a “romantic and flexible identity to be used throughout the venue on signage, menus and uniforms.”

“We thoroughly enjoy working with Simon. His passion and enthusiasm for food is boundless, and we feel very proud to be part of his first venture in his hometown. The brand we’ve created was an instant hit with the client because it captures the opulence and grandeur of the building,” added Chris Mitchell, Liquid’s managing director.

This is Rimmer’s first restaurant in Liverpool, although he does have others in Hale and Didsbury. The chef originally made his name presenting cookery shows on Granada Television, before heading to BBC Two and now Channel 4 as co-presenter of Sunday Brunch.

“I am delighted with the branding for Layla Brasserie. The essence of what we are striving to achieve with my first restaurant in my home city has been fully captured by Liquid, who have such great vision and creativity,” he said.

The hotel is due to open later this year.
