Ahead of the Oasis reunion world tour launching in Cardiff this Friday, Leeds-based Umpf created a footfall-driving PR stunt for its client, St David’s shopping centre in the Welsh capital.
Welsh artist Nathan Wyburn was commissioned to create a monochrome portrait of Noel and Liam – made entirely from the band’s signature bucket hats.
More than 3,000 black and white hats were used to complete the 20ft x 13ft ‘Wonder Wall’ mural inside the Cardiff shopping centre. The portrait, which took four days to complete, was unveiled at the weekend alongside a guest, play-to-win ‘Supersonic Spinner,’ all set to Oasis anthems. The ‘Wonder Wall’ portrait will remain in place for guests to enjoy until after the Cardiff gigs.

Helen Morgan, centre director at St David’s, said: “We’re excited and honoured that our beloved Cardiff is home to the inaugural gig of the Oasis Live ‘25 reunion tour. We wanted to celebrate the city being the first place in the world where fans can see the reunion, so we commissioned our unique Wonder Wall portrait to pay homage to Noel and Liam and the upcoming epic international tour.
“Some might say it’s just a load of bucket hats, but we think it’s definitely, maybe, the best use of buckets hats ever.”
Oasis’ reunion tour kicks off in Cardiff this weekend before embarking on a run including six gigs at Heaton Park in the band’s hometown of Manchester, an extended run at Wembley in the capital, and gigs in Edinburgh and Dublin before the band head to Canada in August.
