Palatine-backed Redmoor Health has named Matt Murphy as its new CEO.
Murphy joins from tech-driven video game software distributor, Genba Digital, where he held the same role. Prior to that he spent 6 years in senior positions at Leeds-based EMIS Group plc, including MD EMIS IQ and Group Strategy Director.
The appointment means replacing Marc Schmid, who founded the company in 2017. Schmid will move into more of a strategic role.
“With his proven track record of fostering the expansion of investor-backed companies, we are confident that Matt’s leadership will steer Redmoor Health towards new horizons of success,” explained Schmid.
“Our partnership with Palatine last year marked a pivotal moment for us, and Matt’s appointment further strengthens our commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions in the UK and beyond.
“Together, we are poised to make strides in transforming healthcare and enhancing patient outcomes, solidifying Redmoor Health’s position as a trailblazer in the health and care sector.”
Palatine invested a “significant” sum in the £4m turnover Chorley company.
“You can tell a lot about Redmoor’s reputation from the level of interest they attracted when they went to the market to raise investment last year,” said Murphy.
“My main priorities will be building the structure to support our ambitious growth plans and developing the team.
“Redmoor is a people business that works in the technology space. Growing the team is critical to meet our future expectations.
“I like the founder story with Marc. Redmoor has got so much potential as a valuable partner of the NHS. I feel I can bring something to the table after my time at EMIS and Genba.”
Murphy starts his role in September and said he saw synergy with his previous position at Genba, which was acquired by Azerion in 2021.
“When I joined Genba in 2017 my brief was to scale up and grow the business. The gross profit grew from £0.5m to over £8m by the start of 2023, whilst the team went from six to 35, and the client base trebled.”
Redmoor Health employs 38 people and Schmid co-owns the business with his wife Alison, who is a company director.
