The nominations for the IRN News Awards 2013 have been announced today.
The winners will be revealed at the awards dinner on Wednesday 27 March at the Century Club in London.
This year there are eight categories including a new Rising Star Award for student journalists.
The judges will also honour one individual or news team with a Gold Award, recognising outstanding contribution to the commercial radio industry.
Ten of the short-listed are from the North with Real Radio Yorkshire picking up two nominations.
IRN managing director Tim Molloy said: “We have had a record number of entries this year, and the standard has been extremely high.
