Guy Garvey will be moving to a daytime slot as part of BBC 6 Music’s new weekend schedule.
The frontman with Manchester band Elbow, who joined the station six years ago, will see his Finest Hour show move from 10pm to 2-4pm on Sundays.
He said: “I have been cosily tucked away in the 6 Music attic for six years but I think what we do on the Finest Hour will work just as well on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
“With only the mystery musical history girl, Beckapedia, for company, I’m looking forward to blissing the 6 Music listeners out; after all, they’ve chosen half the music on my programme.”
In other changes, Cerys Matthews’s Sunday show is being extended to 1pm, while Huey Morgan will move from Sunday afternoons to Saturday mornings, replacing Edith Bowman.
Bob Shennan, Controller of 6 Music and Radio 2, added: “With their daytime shows, Cerys, Guy and Huey are three broadcasters who are at the heart of the 6 Music mission. To give them an enhanced role on the station is crucial to our continued growth.”
