The Gate Films invests £1m in new Manchester base

The Gate Films is moving to Ancoats in Manchester, following an investment of more than £1m in a new 6000sq ft office.

The cash has been spent on the renovation and fit-out of 3-floors on Naval Street, including 3 edit suites, a screening room and production space.

“This past year has been our most successful ever, we’ve won business with big-name agencies like McCann and worked with clients such as Vauxhall, Topman and The Scottish Government. We’ve also put down permanent roots in the capital and launched an exciting new animation offering,” said chief executive, Simon Lewis.

“Manchester is where we started our journey almost twenty years ago, and our location has played a big part in the success of our business. The media scene has exploded here over the last few years and the city is a hot bed for emerging talent – something we’ve really been able to tap into.”

Over the next year, Lewis expects to create 10-15 more jobs in the city.

The move to the Ancoats regeneration zone forms part of the city council’s plans to increase the economic output of the area.

The office will officially open on October 8th.
