Wais Shaifta who headed up Manchester healthtech firm, Push Doctor, has joined The Co-operative as a new Independent Non-Executive Director.
He’s also a Non-Executive Director at the publisher, Reach; Snappy Shopper; and the Gym Group and Senior Independent Trustee at The Football Foundation, England’s largest sports charity.
Shaifta stepped in at Push Doctor in 2018, following the departure of co-founder, Eren Ozagir. He said at the time, that his focus was on growing its relationship with the NHS – that he achieved, with the tech group now the organisation’s biggest partner.
The Co-op said that they were hoping his experience of digital growth and transformation would bring a “depth of understanding of the role technology plays in delivering more value to member-owners.”

He is one of 2 new Independent Non-Executive Director members of The Co-operative Group board. The other is Lord Simon Woolley.
Lord Woolley is a leading political and equalities activist, and is currently Principal of Homerton College, Cambridge and the Deputy Vice Chancellor at Cambridge University.
He co-founded Operation Black Vote, the campaigning NGO, working with ethnic minorities in the UK to increase understanding of civic society, participation in Parliament and public life, and to promote equality and human rights.
Prior to that he was an Equality and Human Rights Commissioner, as well as creating and leading the UK Government’s Race Disparity Unit.
