Drainage. Rebrand. Sorted. ilk gets to the point

ilk Agency has completed a rebrand for civils and drainage company, Cotterills.

The Leeds agency won a competitive pitch process for the work, which started with 3 months of creative development. That included brand workshops, strategy, messaging and visual identity.

“ilk brought a real focus to our brand refresh project. We needed a brand that could better reflect who we are as a company today, having grown so much over the past decade,” said Michelle James, Business Development & Marketing Manager at Cotterills.

“From the brand workshop onwards, ilk helped us hone in on the factors that really mattered to us, and those that offered us a competitive advantage in our sector. They then did a great job of translating that insight into a strong and flexible brand identity. We’re really happy with the work, and very excited for the future.”

Founded in 1993 by Managing Director Andrew Cotterill, Cotterills has grown into a leading land drainage and environmental solutions supplier in the UK.

However, it wanted to better clarify and communicate its ability “to not just sell products, but to actively help, support and problem-solve on behalf of its customers.”

That led to the directness and simplicity of the logo and messaging – “Drainage. Civils. Sorted.”

“We love a good rebrand – especially when we get the chance to partner with the client to really understand what makes them, and their business, tick,” added Nev Ridley, Managing Director at ilk Agency.

“Our collaboration with Michelle and the senior team at Cotterills gave us real clarity as to what we wanted the creative to achieve, and we’re proud of what we’ve been able to produce.”
