Base Studios, Manchester, has launched with pre-built, customisable sets and, we’re promised, great coffee.
The 3,000sqft space, that is now available to hire by the day, comes with a fully-equipped prep kitchen, customisable lifestyle sets, moveable walls, backgrounds, shooting equipment and over 500+ props.
After exactly one year in their new home, the founders of Dead Pixel have launched a unique studio offering with a ‘plug & play’ style facility that aims to make the process of shooting high-end content smoother and faster under modest budgets.
Daisy Strang, studio manager at Base Studios, said: “The team spent five years hiring studios and getting an understanding of what works and what doesn’t. We’ve then taken the last 12 months to put all of that together and shape what we believe is one of the best hireable studio spaces in the country.”
The studio is located in South Manchester and is nestled amongst retail stores including B&Q, Homesense and TK Maxx, plus minutes from Tesco and M&S – making it perfectly-placed for last-minute wardrobe/set adjustments or unexpected ingredient requirements.
Strang continued, “At times, a blank canvas can be too much work, whilst a finished set or location can be too restricting. So we’ve developed a setup that provides a base for creatives to build on, providing a more sustainable solution to set builds perfectly suited for an experienced production crew, marketing agency or freelance photographer.”
Base Studios will operate independent of Dead Pixel and includes all props, customisable sets and backgrounds as part of the standard day rate. It also has partnerships in place with kit hire suppliers for a seamless process for those that need extra toys taken care of.
