Creative England has launched the second round of its Compass programme for senior staff and leaders in indies.

The business development scheme is for executives, producers and entrepreneurs, to help them build, manage and lead successful film companies.

It’s being run in collaboration with DT Talent and funded through Creative England’s Film Enterprise Fund, which is supporting film-related businesses outside of the Greater London area.

“The first Compass programme was a great success, and helped a diverse group of producers to navigate the challenges involved in an ever-changing film industry,” said Chris Moll, head of film at Creative England.

“For 2015 it’s exciting that we’re able to open the programme up to entrepreneurs across the film value chain, throughout development, production, sales, distribution, exhibition, emerging content markets and beyond.”

The programme is designed to encourage businesses to develop their ambitions for growth and combine creative and entrepreneurial skills. At the centre of this will be the development of a business proposal, under the guidance of Prof John Bates, a Fellow in strategy and entrepreneurship at London Business School.

It runs between February and April next year and is aimed at those who are already leading a film business, or who have a “strong track record in related content production.”

The deadline for applications is midday on 16th January.
