A new BBC One documentary starring Manchester United’s Class of 92 had its run cut after being forced to re-edit the series due to a “legal matter”.
Class of ’92: Out of Their League, produced by Electric Ray and starring Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes, was originally a three-parter due to launch in September.
However, it has been cut to just two parts, the first of which will broadcast this Thursday.
It’s understood that the documentary, which follows Salford City FC, a non-league team bought by the Class of 92 stars last year, was originally to have featured former assistant manager Stuart Rudd.
But Rudd was fired last November for “tapping-up”, after sending Northern Premier League side Trafford FC winger Shelton Payne a text inquiring about his availability and telling him that Scholes rated him.
Footage of Rudd has now been removed for legal reasons.
A BBC spokesperson said: “We have re-edited the series due to an ongoing legal matter not related to the programme, Salford City FC or Class of 92.”
