British Land, the UK’s largest listed retail landlord, has appointed Citypress to provide consumer digital and social media support to its portfolio of shopping destinations.

Already underway, the initial brief includes content creation and community management for retail centres including Deepdale in Preston, Broughton in Chester and Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre in west London.

And from April, Citypress will provide digital and social media support across all of British Land’s retail assets, which have a total value of £10.8bn.

Citypress was appointed following a non-competitive tender, based on its strength and experience in the retail sector.

The account is led by director and head of London at Citypress, Tom Kirkham. The agency will report to British Land’s head of retail marketing Linsey Wooldridge, who previously partnered with Citypress when she was marketing director at retailer McArthurGlen.

Linsey Wooldridge, marketing director at British Land Retail, said: “We launched new digital platforms for our portfolio of retail assets at the end of last year to improve shopper engagement and awareness. Citypress has been appointed to deliver a digital content and social media programme to maximise the effectiveness of these platforms and to drive footfall and awareness.

“Having previously worked with Citypress on PR programmes for retail portfolios, the agency was a clear choice for this brief given their expertise in the sector.”

Over the past 12 months, Citypress has won business from the likes of The Post Office, Odgers Interim and Pilkington UK.
