Canadian airline Air Transat has appointed Republic of Media to manage all media buying on its behalf across the UK and Ireland.

Following a competitive pitch, the Manchester-based agency will oversee all offline media buying from November, including OOH, radio and print.

It will also support the execution of media campaigns in the local markets, working with an annual budget of £1.2m.

The 28-strong agency already works with international travel and tourism brands including Brand USA, the Moroccan Tourist Board and Visit Mexico.

“The agency’s combination of insight, creative ideas and buying ability was fundamental to winning the pitch,” said Annabel Leckenby, marketing and communications manager for Air Transat in the UK and Ireland.

“We’ve admired their work from afar in recent years, and are confident they are the best placed agency to help grow awareness of our brand and fantastic customer offering through bought media.”

Founded in 2012 by former Feather Brooksbank and Aegis director Stuart Feather, Republic of Media now works with clients including bet365, Highland Spring, Tennent’s Lager and The Scottish Government.

MD Simon Crunden, who will lead the account alongside account director Toby Hutchins, said there was a “clear fit” between the companies.

Based in Montreal, Air Transat carries 4.5 million passengers to approximately 60 destinations in 26 countries.
