Brian McFadden to host Channel 5 dating show at MediaCityUK

Channel 5 has announced a new prime-time dating show, which will be shot at MediaCityUK.

Hosted by Brian McFadden and Laura Jackson, Stand by Your Man will be produced by ITV Studios and GroupM Entertainment.

In the series, 4 male contestants will compete to win a date with one of 40 girls from the studio audience. There will be various rounds of challenges, with the aim of revealing more about themselves and influencing the girls’ decisions.

“This new series takes the search for love in a fresh direction. We’re inviting our fun-loving singles to a great Northern night out that hopefully ends in love. I’m delighted to have Brian and Laura at the helm – who better to sort the men from the boys, and bag our gorgeous girls a date?” explained Sumi Connock, creative director at ITV Studios.

McFadden found fame as part of Westlife and has since gone on to be a judge on Australia’s Got Talent as well as guest presenting on ITV’s Daybreak as its entertainment correspondent.

Jackson, meanwhile has hosted Celebrity Super Spa and been a reporter for Celebrity Big Brother’s Bit on the Side. More recently she’s been presenting Scrambled for ITV.

“I’m delighted that Brian and Laura will be jointly hosting this brand new series.  Brian’s cheeky Irish charm and wit will be a winner with viewers.  Laura has proved herself as a rising star and she and Brian have a unique on-screen chemistry together.  They’re the perfect match for a dating format that changes by the minute,” added Greg Barnett, commissioning editor: entertainment, daytime & soaps at Channel 5.
