“Bold and unconventional” as Stockport tenders for place marketing campaign

Totally Stockport, the town’s Business Improvement District has launched a tender for a “fresh and memorable” marketing campaign.

The town’s currently undergoing a £1bn regeneration and is seeking marketing agencies to attract visitors through a “bold, alternative and unconventional way.”

“This is the first time we (as Totally Stockport) have allocated a budget of this level to a place-making marketing campaign. It presents a huge opportunity for agencies of all shapes and sizes to apply to work with our open-minded team who want to trial  an innovative and out of the ordinary campaign that entices people to spend, dwell and most importantly build a sense of pride in their local town centre,” explained Shaun Freeman-Jones from Totally Stockport.

“The brief has been intentionally left open to allow agencies to apply their own personal stamp to the campaign and encourage creative thinking and quirky methodology.”

They are hoping to not just increase visitor numbers, but also dwell time and “challenge existing perceptions of Stockport town centre through a predominantly digital campaign.”

The tender process has opened and Totally Stockport expects to whittle down submissions to 3 by June, with the successful agency appointed at the end of next month. The contract is worth £10k-£15k.
