Her role at 6 Music has encompassed a series of producer roles, most recently on the Mary Anne Hobbs show, and she has also run her own talent management business, What Goes On Media, for five years.

Ande Macpherson, regional content director for Bauer in the North West, said: “Kate’s deep passion for Manchester, a life-long love of radio and her meticulous approach to talent development are perfect attributes to bring to this new role at Key 103.

“Securing Kate is another example of Bauer’s mission to find the best talent to create brilliant content for its audiences.

“I am looking forward to working closely with Kate and the whole team at Key 103, with a focus on performance and driving success and growth across Greater Manchester.”

Cocker becomes the latest content controller to be appointed to Bauer’s Place Portfolio following a series of appointments last month.

She will take up her new role on November 4.
