Masterchef winner turns to Manchester agency for first restaurant launch

Manchester-based Down at the Social has been appointed to mastermind the launch of Masterchef winner Simon Wood’s first restaurant.

WOOD Manchester is set to open in First Street in central Manchester this summer.

Wood, famed for his octopus and squab pigeon in the 2015 series of the show, was described by Greg Wallace as an “incredible talent”.

Down at the Social will manage the PR and social media marketing for the launch of the restaurant.

Wood said: “This launch is incredibly important to me. Winning Masterchef was a fantastic achievement but this is what really counts – me cooking my food in my restaurant.

“I needed the right partner to help get the word out and from day one Daisy and the team at Down at the Social were a perfect fit. Their understanding of the market here in Manchester, plus their contacts and creative approach to content is just what we were looking for.”

Daisy Whitehouse, MD at Down at the Social, added: “We know that he will deliver on the food – our job is to get as many bums on seats in his restaurant as possible and drive that all important word of mouth from day one.”

Down at the Social also works with the likes of Shoryu Ramen, Vapiano, The Printworks and Manchester Pride.
