Manchester City FC is looking to extend its visibility across Africa, with the signing of a new deal with Vivo Energy.

The company distributes and markets Shell-branded products across the continent, and is now the club’s official “fuels and lubricants partner” in Botswana.

This follows a similar partnership with its operation in the Ivory Coast.

“As a quickly growing energy business with an impressive footprint across the continent, we are confident we can work together to continue to provide great experiences for their customers, whilst building our presence in key markets,” explained Omar Berrada, commercial director of City Football Marketing.

City Football Marketing is the new operation which brokers the club’s commercial partnerships.

In Botswana, there has been a 2-month nationwide retail promotion, with a competition for customers to win an all-expenses paid trip to the UK and a VIP experience at the Etihad Stadium.

“We have been incredibly pleased with the success of the Ivory Coast campaign and are looking forward to seeing similar results in Botswana,” added Ann Gitao-Kinyua, head of marketing for Vivo Energy.

“Vivo Energy is committed to growth across its network of 15 countries in Africa and this partnership with Manchester City FC has helped to both drive volume to our service stations and excite our customers.”
