Maguire to leave Insider Media to edit Lawrence Jones's new business technology magazine
Chris Maguire is to leave the North West Business Insider to edit a new national business technology magazine being launched by cloud computing entrepreneur Lawrence Jones MBE.
The new title, Business Cloud, will be bimonthly and focus on "technology for a business audience".
Maguire has edited Insider Media's North West Business Insider magazine since January 2012, having previously edited the Chorley and Leyland Guardian for nearly six years. Over the course of a 25-year career he's also worked for the Daily Mail, Gloucestershire Echo and Yorkshire Evening Post.
Jones, founder and CEO of UKFast, said: "I have known Chris for many years and he is the perfect fit to take the helm of this new opportunity. Successful businesses need dynamic people who have the passion and vision to inspire, Chris is one of those rare people I believe in wholeheartedly."
Business Cloud will be based out of UKFast's Manchester Campus and is to be distributed nationally. The full size of the editorial team is yet to be confirmed but it will be launching "in the first half of 2016".
Jones explained: "With mobile devices and tech changing the way we search for information, it is becoming harder to find effective places for businesses to interact with their audiences.
"Business Cloud is as much about events, and face-to-face engagement as it is about what’s happening in the UK tech economy. Chris is the perfect front man for both these areas."
Jones insisted the new publication was a "completely separate entity" from UKFast.
He added: "In my opinion Chris is one of the country's best editors and has a real passion for technology and business. As well as this he is one of the best events hosts I've worked with and has a unique style of his own. I'm hugely excited to be going into business with someone who is as passionate about technology as I am."
Maguire is currently working out his notice at Insider Media and will take up his new post in March.
