Howard Foster, regional director of Bauer Media’s magazine sales operation, based in Manchester, has announced his retirement from the business at the end of the year.

Foster has been in charge of German-owned H Bauer’s regional business since the publisher launched in the UK with Bella magazine in 1987.

In a career spanning 38 years, he has overseen several initiatives to improve the efficiency of Bauer’s regional operation.

Foster’s career highlights include the launch of market leading titles Take a Break and TV Choice to non-London-based advertisers and agencies and taking on responsibility for the whole of Bauer’s Insert Sales operation.

Foster said: “I can’t tell you how much I have enjoyed working with Bauer over the last quarter century but it is time now to spend the remaining years of my working life doing something different and at a more relaxed pace. It is also the right moment to be handing over the reins to the next generation who can build on the success we have had. I am proud to be leaving with our revenue still growing despite the pressures within the market we operate in”.

Simon Young, managing director at H Bauer Advertising, said “It has been a great pleasure working with Howard to develop Bauer’s regional operation, his commitment and contribution to the business has been immeasurable and he will be sorely missed. I am very sorry to see Howard leave the business but wish him every success in pursuing his goal of a more relaxed work-life balance.”

An announcement on Foster’s replacement will be made in the near future,
