The BBC’s former industrial correspondent Nick Jones will be joining the ‘Beast of Bolsover’ Dennis Skinner to speak at an event in Wakefield to mark the 30th anniversary of the end of the year-long miners’ strike next month.

Jones will be talking about recently released cabinet papers about the way the Thatcher government handled the strike while the National Union of Journalist’s (NUJ) Leeds branch stalwart Tony Harcup is going to detail his work at the time on Leeds Other Paper.

The event also features an exhibition of work from photographer John Harris whose images feature in the award-winning film Still the Enemy Within.

The day long event, With Banners Held High, runs from 11.00am-5.00pm on March 7 and further details can be found online here.
