Smoking Gun PR has won a competitive pitch to support the Cats Protection charity.

The Manchester agency will working alongside an in-house team on a number of communications campaigns including the launch of its Kitten Neutering Database (KiND), celebrity outreach programme, Cat Guardian scheme and new rehoming centre openings.

“Over the past five years we have carved out a real niche in the pet sector  and it is fantastic to add Cats Protection to our growing client list,” said Smoking Gun PR managing director, Rick Guttridge.

“With a remit spanning feline welfare, animal re-homing, fundraising and awareness raising campaigns, the in-house PR team already does an absolutely amazing job at generating share of voice for the charity and its campaigns. It’s a great honour to be brought on board to support the team and  lead on a number of its key projects this year.”

It will be working on promoting the charity across consumer, third sector and specialist pet channels.

“It was important for us to find an agency which could work as an extension of our busy in-house team, hitting the ground running to offer expert advice and generate the quality and quantity of media coverage we feel the charities work deserves,” added Louise Waters at Cats Protection.
