Peter Plumb, the chief executive of Moneysupermarket.com and Stevie Spring, the chair of the ITG Group and BBC Children in Need have been named as independent, non-executive directors of The Co-operative Group.
The move is part of the Manchester company’s governance reforms, which were agreed by its members last year.

Plumb has been chief executive of Chester-based Moneysupermarket since 2009. Prior to that he was managing director of dunnhumby – behind the Tesco Clubcard and he’s also held senior roles at Disney, Dyson and PepsiCo.
Stevie Spring
Spring started out in brand marketing and consumer advertising, before becoming CEO of Clear Channel. She then joined Future PLC and helped it become the largest seller of digital magazines on the Apple Newsstand. She has chaired BBC Children in Need since 2008.
The pair will now put themselves forward for election by members at next year’s AGM.
