SFA_MasterLogo_FullColourAn educational charity set up to improve children’s literacy has appointed the recently created Manchester agency Reform Creative.

Reform Creative, which came about following a merger a couple of months ago, will be re-branding The Success for All Foundation UK (SFA).

Reform Creative director, Paul Heaton said: “The project is now in phase two following our review of the marketing and the development of a strategic plan which has included brand development workshops, working on key message statements and a campaign schedule.

"One of the challenges was to create a distinctive and unique brand for Success for All UK whilst retaining links to the US values.”

The Success for All Foundation originated in the US and was brought to the UK as a research project in 1997 in conjunction with Nottingham University. Children in the pilot schools made significant progress and SFA UK has been in existence ever since.

Gary Devreede, Senior Designer, explained the thinking behind the work to modernise the brand.

“We wanted to create a brand that was perceived as trustworthy, honest and friendly. We achieved this through the use of professional colours, clear and legible typography and the use of a joyful illustration. The star graphic was retained from the US brand but re-sited to sit comfortably with the typography and a cleaner style of star was used.”

SFA has a large presence in the US where it was originally founded. In the UK, SFA supports schools in developing a powerful and effective teaching and learning strategy, producing a significant array of supportive teaching materials in line with the National Curriculum.

SFA UK still hold true to the ideals and aspirations of the originator of the programme and has strong links to the American side of the organisation, which includes development and research led by the founders, Bob Slavin and Nancy Madden.
