Royal Bank of Scotland has unveiled the logo for Williams & Glyn, its relaunched 250-year-old banking brand to be headquartered in Manchester.

It’s understood to have been in development for over a year and has been informed by consultation with RBS staff and focus groups.

An RBS spokesman says: “Creating a distinct Williams & Glyn brand is an important part of preparing the business for separation from RBS, and we continue to be guided by the views of our customers and employees as we develop that brand.”

The logo, which has been registered for trademark with the Intellectual Property Office in colour and mono, gives the first clue as to the brand direction to be taken by the bank.

As exclusively revealed in Prolific North last month, the bank is currently looking for a single integrated agency to handle a £30m marketing and communications brief.

Set to focus on SMEs, it is due to launch on the high street in spring 2015 with 314 branches and 1.7m customers.
